Swastik Productions’ ‘Porus’ is all set to get a global audience

MUMBAI: Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Porus has changed the face of Indian television and is all set to do the same outside the country as well. The TV series has been constantly making the production house proud with its massive fan base as well as incredible reviews. Well, this fan base is sure to increase in the near future as the mega series has now been licensed to JKN Global Media for Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar and to Soraya Intercine Films for Indonesia.

Swastik is the owner of the intellectual property (IP) for the series. The production house also owns premium video distribution company One Life Studios that has already inked licensing deals for its historical drama series across multiple international territories. Porus, at present, is available in nine countries across Asia besides India. Earlier, the show was licensed to Sirasa TV in Sri Lanka and Thai Public Broadcasting Service (TPBS) in Thailand.

One Life Studios Founder and Chief Creative Siddharth Kumar Tewary says, “Porus is rapidly taking over the world, with nine countries sold since the incredible launch just last November. We are very proud to share the important and exciting story of Porus with the global audience, and we intend to announce additional territories in the near future,”

In Sri Lanka, Porus was launched in January under the name Digvijaya. The 260-episode series was bought by Maharaja Television (MTV) and was dubbed in the local language of Sinhala, in order to reach out to Sinhalese worldwide. The show is also being streamed on Maharaja TV’s digital platform.

TPBS had secured the exclusive TV rights in Thailand and non-exclusive digital rights for the app, YouTube, and Facebook pages. Workpoint also has the rights to create original music for the Thai broadcast. The broadcaster has inked one-year deals in Sri Lanka and Thailand.

The show narrates the story of King Porus, who fought against Alexander the Great in the battle of the Hydaspes and was the biggest obstacle to Alexander’s ambition to conquer the Indian subcontinent. Porus has been written and directed by Swastik Productions’ Siddharth. Siddharth and his brother and business partner Rahul Kumar Tewary have proven their mettle and connection with the audience time and again with all their shows.
